Aidone – Pine Grove of the Church of Sant’Anna and Archaeological Museum | July 3, 2025
In the heart of the Rocca di Cerere UNESCO Global Geopark, the town of Aidone hosted a new Geo-Event on Thursday, July 3, organized by Si.M.Geo – Ecomuseum System of the Rocca di Cerere and the GAL Rocca di Cerere Geopark.
The day, titled “Grain, Stone, and Dance”, offered a true immersion into the symbolic and cultural identity of the region, blending geology, mythology, and Mediterranean culture.

A Journey Through Science and Storytelling
The event began in the Pine Grove of the Church of Sant’Anna, with an introduction to the geological foundations of the Aidone area, presented by the scientific team of the Rocca di Cerere UNESCO Global Geopark. The talk highlighted the connection between geological elements and cultural heritage, setting the stage for a broader reflection on the landscape as a living and layered space.
Theatre, Myth, and the Younger Generation
Following this, a theatre workshop was held for children and teenagers from the local GREST summer program, led by actor and director Dario Scarpati. Inspired by the myth of Ceres, Proserpina, and Persephone, the workshop explored themes related to the earth, femininity, and the cycle of life. Through performative exercises and storytelling, the young participants reinterpreted the myth as a tool for reclaiming identity and fostering awareness of their connection to the land.
The day concluded with a theatrical performance born from the workshop activities, offering the public a poetic and participatory vision of the landscape and its rich symbolic heritage.
