On May 22, the town of Assoro hosted “Parliament of Non-Human Entities”, a Geo-Event organized by Si.M.Geo – the Ecomuseum System of the Rocca di Cerere UNESCO Global Geopark and GAL Rocca di Cerere Geopark, aimed at reflecting on the relationship between human beings and the environment.

A performance that gives voice to nature
The performance – conceived and curated by the Department of Engineering and Architecture of Kore University of Enna, under the guidance of Professor Gianluca Burgio – invited the audience to adopt a radically different perspective: to see the environment not as a backdrop, but as an active protagonist of our time.
The initiative emphasized the need to develop an ecocentric vision of environmental policy, in which natural elements – rivers, soils, forests – can symbolically express needs, rights, and demands. It was a public exercise in civic and environmental imagination, offering space for reflection on our role within the ecosystem and inspiring a new culture of care, environmental justice, and coexistence.
This initiative is part of the broader efforts of the Si.M.Geo. – Ecomuseum System of the Rocca di Cerere UNESCO Global Geopark, which aims to strengthen the relationship between communities and their territory through environmental education, participatory practices, and storytelling.
