On Wednesday, July 30, 2025, the historic halls of Palazzo Trigona in Piazza Armerina hosted the seminar “Dialogues Around UNESCO Recognitions: Shared Governance Strategies for Territorial Heritage”, promoted as part of the Si.M.Geo – Ecomuseum System of the Rocca di Cerere UNESCO Global Geopark project.
The event offered a valuable opportunity for discussion among institutions, cultural professionals, and local stakeholders, aimed at developing shared models for the management and promotion of cultural heritage—overcoming the fragmentation of current governance systems and envisioning new forms of cooperation and integrated access.

On Saturday, July 26, 2025, the courtyard of the Assoro Town Hall hosted a new and powerful Geo-Event promoted by the Si.M.Geo – Ecomuseum System of the Rocca di Cerere UNESCO Global Geopark, in collaboration with the GAL Rocca di Cerere Geopark area.
The event centered around the presentation of the book “Il Paesaggio delle Solfare – Sicilia” (The Landscape of the Sulfur Mines – Sicily) by Attilio Scimone, who was present at the event. The presentation was accompanied by the opening of a photographic exhibition entirely dedicated to the evocative landscape of Sicily’s sulfur mines.

Discovering Roots: Identity and Migration

On Thursday, July 17, Palazzo Prato in Valguarnera hosted the Geo-Event “Discovering Roots: Identity and Migration”, organized as part of the Si.M.Geo – Ecomuseum System of the Rocca di Cerere UNESCO Global Geopark project, with the support of the GAL Rocca di Cerere Geopark.
The day began with institutional greetings from the Municipality of Valguarnera and the Rocca di Cerere UNESCO Global Geopark, followed by a guided tour of the museum housed inside the historic Palazzo.

Taste, Memory, and Territory: The Food Culture Geoportal at the Rocca di Cerere Geopark

On Thursday, July 17, at Al Kenisa Literary Café in Enna, the Food Culture Geoportal (GeCA) was officially presented—an important national initiative organized by Si.M.Geo – Ecomuseum System of the Rocca di Cerere UNESCO Global Geopark as part of Geopark Week.
The event was dedicated to the promotion of Italy’s agro-food heritage and was held in collaboration with the Central Institute for Intangible Heritage (ICPI/MIC) and the Rocca di Cerere UNESCO Global Geopark.
Titled “Taste, Memory, Territory – The Food Culture Geoportal at the Rocca di Cerere Geopark”, the event offered a space for interdisciplinary dialogue exploring the connection between geodiversity, food traditions, and local cultural identity.

The evening opened with institutional greetings from the Municipality of Calascibetta and the Rocca di Cerere UNESCO Global Geopark, highlighting their joint commitment to promoting the landscape and cultural heritage of the region.

Excursion to the Byzantine Village of Vallone Canalotto

On Wednesday, July 9, a new event was held, organized by Si.M.Geo – Ecomuseum System of the Rocca di Cerere UNESCO Global Geopark, in collaboration with the GAL Rocca di Cerere Geopark area.
The Geo-Event featured a guided tour of the Byzantine village of Vallone Canalotto, one of the most significant rock-cut settlements in central Sicily.
Leading the excursion was Gianluca Rosso, a certified environmental guide, who accompanied participants along a trail steeped in history and surrounded by nature.

An afternoon dedicated to discovering the local area through sports activities, nature experiences, and tastings, with the goal of promoting a sustainable lifestyle and highlighting the natural, cultural, and agro-food excellence of the Rocca di Cerere UNESCO Global Geopark.

The day was designed to combine environmental education, play, and exploration of the agricultural landscape, engaging young participants in a dynamic orienteering experience that wove together nature, culture, and sustainable farming.
